Where are the MirrorLabs part 4 - University of Tartu

In the posts for February and March, we would like to introduce you to each of the MirrorLabs partners. MirrorLabs currently consists of seven research institutions distributed over Europe which is shown in the figure below. Today's post will introduce the University of Tartu which is located in Estonia.

University of Tartu (founded in 1632 by the Swedish king Gustavus Adolphus) is Estonia's leading centre of research and training. It preserves the culture of the Estonian people and spearheads the country's reputation in research and provision of higher education. UniTartu belongs to the top 1.2% of world's best universities.

CoBotLab at IMS-robotics

IMS-robotics is an interdisciplinary research lab within the Institute of Technology of the University of Tartu. IMS-robotics hosts a Collaborative Robotics Lab (CBL) - a research and learning facility to test and experiment with the ideas involving robot-robot and human-robot interactions. CBL enables conducting both scientific research and to use it for educational purposes. The lab is already an active testbed supporting a large number of bachelor, master, and PhD theses on the topics of, e.g.:

  • natural language-based social robotics,

  • human-aware motion-planning for collaborative industrial robots and autonomous ground vehicles,

  • reliability and robustness of multi-robot systems,

  • multi-modal approach to human-robot interaction and collaboration,

  • trajectory optimization-based motion-planning for aerial and ground robot swarms.
