Where are the MirrorLabs part 1 - TU Delft

In the posts for February and March, we would like to introduce you to each of the MirrorLabs partners. MirrorLabs currently consists of seven research institutions distributed over Europe which is shown in the figure below. Today's post will introduce the TU Delft which is located in the Netherlands.

TU Delft SAMXL and Applied Labs

The Delft University of Technology, also known as TU Delft, is the oldest and largest Dutch public technological university. It is located in Delft, Netherlands. It is consistently ranked as the best university in the Netherlands. As of 2019, it is ranked among the top 20 engineering and technology universities in the world.

Integration in lab facilities

This is SAM|XL (Smart Advanced Manufacturing XL), a collaborative research center where technology is being developed, demonstrated, and de-risked for automated manufacture of large-size lightweight composite parts for aircraft, wind turbine blades, spacecraft, and maritime applications. https://samxl.com/

The Applied Labs in the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering brings design research one step further than the conventional tests in a lab setting, in that the product or product service is designed for, and evaluated in more realistic and thus more complex settings. https://www.tudelft.nl/en/ide/research/research-labs/applied-labs/

Integration in teaching

The “Robotics” Elective in the new Bachelor Education of TU Delft’s Industrial Design faculty in 2021 will use the developed MirrorLabs tools in teaching. Furthermore, the teaching material will be used for graduation projects within the area of human-robot coproduction.
